Socks

We know this isn’t the most fascinating topic, but honestly, finding the right socks is almost as important as finding the right shoes.

Worn-out areas, holes, baggy fabric – anything that rubs against your foot while you move can cause chafing and, in the worst case, blisters. Add moisture and heat to the equation, and things can get rather uncomfortable.

This is of course not a complete list, and you should absolutely test what works best for you (that’s part of the reason why we have training sessions!). It’s only meant to give you an idea of what to look for.

Options we’ve tried (#notsponsored):

1. The Feetures Elite Light Cushion Sock

The thinnest of the socks we’ve tried. A very snug fit and a little bit of compression ensure that the socks stay where they’re supposed to be.

Pro: No chafing, no rubbing, very nice fit.
Con: Not a lot of cushioning, and a little difficult to change quickly.

2. The Balega Unisex Enduro Le Mini Sock

The thickest of the socks we’ve tried. Generous cushioning and a substantial layer of fabric make these socks very comfortable.

Pro: Very comfortable, nice fit, good cushioning.
Con: A little too warm and almost too thick after a while.

3. Arc’teryx Hiking Socks

In almost every aspect, these socks are in the Goldilocks zone: some cushioning, but not too much; good moisture management, but not too bulky; good fit, but not too tight.

We don’t really have a Pro and Con for these ones – they were simply the most comfortable socks we’ve tried.

Of course, what works best for us might not work best for you. The important thing is to find something that feels good in your shoes, stays in place and doesn’t give you any unwanted surprises after several hours of dancing!
